Josh Gates’s Phone Number, House Address, Email, Biography, Wiki, Whatsapp, and Contact Information
Josh Gates is an American television host and producer who was born on August 10, 1977. On Syfy, he hosted and co-executive produced Destination Truth and Stranded, and he presently hosts and co-executive produces Expedition: Unknown and Legendary Locations on The Discovery Channel (and former Travel Channel). He’s also recognized for hosting a number of live specials for the television series Ghost Hunters and its spin-off Ghost Hunters International, as well as serving as a guest investigator on the show. Through his production business Ping Pong Productions, he produces the related Ghost Nation series as well as other paranormal television shows.
Gates was born to Lee and Sonia Gates in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, and now lives in Los Angeles, California. He majored in archaeology and acting at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Gates married Hallie Gnatovich, his Destination Truth co-star, in 2014. They are the parents of two children.
Gates hosted Destination Truth on Syfy from 2007 until 2012. The show’s second season opened with its highest-rated telecast ever, with 1.7 million total viewers, making it Syfy’s highest-rated second-season performance for a reality series. After the fifth season, the show was canceled.
Gates visited Walt Disney World in Florida in 2008 to meet with Joe Rohde, Walt Disney Imagineering’s Executive Designer. A cast of the “Yeti” footprint discovered during a Destination Truth show was delivered to Rohde by Gates. Expedition Everest, a Himalayan-themed, high-speed coaster-like attraction where customers come face-to-face with a Yeti, features the cast.
Destination Truth episodes began airing on Travel Channel in May 2017. For the television series Ghost Hunters and its spin-off Ghost Hunters International, Gates conducted eight live specials (1 episode). He also appeared in four episodes as a guest investigator. Former Ghost Hunters members Jason Hawes, Steve Gonsalves, and Dave Tango star in the related Ghost Nation series.
Gates hosted the Ghost Hunters Live Halloween special in 2007, and he made a guest appearance on Ghost Hunters International’s mid-first-season finale episode in 2008. In 2008, he returned to host Ghost Hunters Live from Ft. Both seasons were well-received, with the 2008 season making Syfy the number one cable network in prime time on Halloween night. In 2009, 2010, and 2011, Gates returned to host the Ghost Hunters Live Halloween specials. Gates also hosted the 100th episode special of Ghost Hunters Live from the stage of Saturday Night Live in 30 Rockefeller Center, where the TAPS crew explored Alcatraz Prison.
In 2007 (“Revelations”) and 2008 (“Ghost Hunters”), Gates sponsored two round-table talks with Ghost Hunters (“All Access”.) Gates reappeared as a guest investigator in a 2009 episode that investigated the Essex County Penitentiary, a 2011 episode that investigated the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, a 2012 episode that investigated Hammond Castle, and a 2013 episode that investigated Mission San Juan Capistrano.
After leaving Travel Channel, Gates is now the host and executive producer of Expedition Unknown on Discovery Channel, which started in January 2015 and is presently in its eighth season as of October 2020. To fill the conclusion of the season and more network airtime in 2020, a SARS-CoV-2 COVID-19 2020 pandemic at-home variant of the show called Josh Gates Tonight was devised, in which Gates video chats with guests about travel and life.
Expedition: Back to the Future, a four-part special of Expedition: Unknown, premiered in 2021. In the series, Gates and actor Christopher Lloyd set out to find the six other DeLorean Time Machines that were utilized during the making of the Back to the Future movies, with the goal of gifting them to The Michael J. Fox Foundation to auction off to help fund Parkinson’s disease research.
Josh Gates was a competitor on ESPN’s reality/game show Beg, Borrow, and Deal in 2002. Josh appeared in two episodes of Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files in May 2012, in which he examined paranormal phenomena. Stranded, a paranormal reality television series that launched on the SyFy channel in February 2013, was created, executive produced and narrated by Gates. Gates collaborated on the show alongside Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum.
Gates has starred in a variety of television commercials after migrating to Los Angeles, including Coke and Ozark Trail. As part of a campaign created by Publicis New York and BMW USA, he starred in a national ad for BMW. Gates has also starred in advertisements for EA Sports, Dish Network, and Stanley Tools, among others.
Pelzer’s biography A Brother’s Journey. AudioFile Magazine gave Gates’ narration the Earphones Award, which honors great audio presentations that excel in narrative voice and style, vocal characterizations, appropriateness for the audio format, and text augmentation. Gates debuted a new show called “Expedition X” in February 2020, in which he and fellow paranormal researcher Jessica Chobot, as well as scientist Phil Torres, explore ghostly sightings and other odd phenomena.
Gates debuted a new chat program, “Josh Gates Tonight,” in April 2020, in which he videoconference interviews people from all around the world, including those who had previously appeared on Expedition: Unknown, as well as travel and adventure figures. The new show was devised to fill airtime owing to the COVID-19 pandemic’s suspension of productions, and it could be shot while isolated amid lockdown and travel restrictions.
Josh Gates Biography/Wiki
After all, a worldwide pandemic isn’t exactly conducive to international travel, so rather than bench one of its greatest stars for an unknown amount of time, the network allowed Gates to host a Zoom-centric discussion show from his own spare bedroom.
It seemed insignificant at first, something Gates could do while he was confined at home with no adventure program to produce. But, against all odds, Josh Gates Tonight has evolved into something far more interesting — a highly entertaining hour of gab that manages to combine Gates’ pop-culture obsessions with a goofy and slightly warped sense of humor that may be the closest thing to Craig Ferguson’s Late Late Show since Ferguson’s departure in 2014.
For those unfamiliar with Gates, he rose to prominence as a Syfy TV presenter, starring in Destination Truth from 2007 to 2012 and appearing on the network’s paranormal reality show Ghost Hunters on a regular basis. In 2015, he moved to Discovery to host Expedition Unknown, in which Gates, who has a degree in archaeology, travels the globe in search of unique treasures and historical riddles.
Imagine a schlubbier Indiana Jones who chose to host a reality show instead of teaching at a university. Expedition Unknown makes for wonderful leisurely Saturday afternoon watching for those who still have cable — the kind of unoffensive and fairly entertaining reality show you might have on in the background while folding laundry. (It’s also available to watch on Discovery+, which was just established.)
None of this suggests that the man could conduct a fascinating talk show. However, there are a few things you should know about Josh Gates: He’s very damn amusing, with a self-deprecating sense of humor that suits someone who’s best known for hosting cable reality series. He’s also a knowledgeable pop-culture junkie, having grown up admiring the action, adventure, and horror movies that dominated the 1980s.
If you had this person interview today’s top celebs, you wouldn’t get a narrative like this. But, fortunately for Gates, his fledgling talk show would never attract guests of that stature. Instead, he’s used his show to interview the actors and actresses he grew up idolizing in movies and on television. Josh Gates is a must-see for fans of the 80s and 90s movies, particularly genre cinema. Tonight became the most entertaining discussion show on television all of a sudden.
Bruce Campbell, Scott Glenn, Joe Dante, William Shatner, Dee Wallace, Robert Englund, Doug Jones, Karen Allen, Alex Winter, Haley Joel Osment, John Rhys-Davies, Danny Trejo, and the list goes on and on are among the actors, and filmmakers he’s interviewed during the last year and a half. Even better, the guests aren’t usually there to promote a new project. Instead, Gates and his crew put up episodes based on themes.
There have been hours dedicated to superheroes, well-known cinematic villains, and Stephen King’s writings. And, unlike other talk programs, Gates asks his guests thoughtful questions about the topics that they care about. As a result, you’ll hear Englund talk about A Nightmare on Elm Street and Rhys-Davies share stories about Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Lord of the Rings if you tune in. It’s evident that Gates is a big admirer of the properties, so it’s interesting to see him go all starry-eyed over visitors you wouldn’t expect to see on Jimmy Fallon.
Gates, Josh Even when Gates isn’t Zooming with non-A-list celebrities, the show is still entertaining to watch. The show has a shabby, improvised air to it, which is likely due to its low budget and epidemic roots, but it does invite comparisons to Ferguson and perhaps even early Conan O’Brien.
The programs, which are also accessible on Discovery+, usually begin with a silly film or TV spoof that ties into the theme of the show. (I strongly advise you to see Gates’ wonderful and ridiculous rendition of the opening credits of Murder, She Wrote.) In 2020, the show featured a cursed tribal mask named Gabe and spent a week pitting Gates against an acerbic shark puppet named Rick Chomp during its Shark Week episodes.
Every episode includes a few minutes of cocktail time, during which Gates demonstrates how to make an exotic alcoholic beverage. Whereas many late-night network talk shows are still attempting to replicate a Johnny Carson paradigm that may or may not be relevant, the adventure show host with no budget on cable is somehow breaking new ground… or, at the very least, serving an audience of film nerds and classic pop-culture enthusiasts who are always hungry for content. (During the epidemic, Josh Gad’s web sitcom Reunited Apart had comparable success.)
The show isn’t without flaws. Too much time is spent advertising other Discovery network shows (a relic of the series’ “after-show” roots that grew annoying during this year’s Shark Week run). But it’s been such a hit that Gates’ obsessions are now spilling over into his day job, as evidenced by the recent Expedition: Back to the Future Discovery+ miniseries, which follows Gates and a very game Christopher Lloyd as they try to track down all of the time-travel trilogy’s screen-used DeLoreans.
Despite the fact that the COVID-19 epidemic shows no signs of abating, the virus’s numbers have reduced to the point that Expedition Unknown may resume production on new episodes. I hope this does not spell the end of Josh Gates Tonight, which has provided its host with a forum to nerd out about topics that many of us care about. There’s no reason it can’t continue in the aftermath of the pandemic. (Former hobbits Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, as well as writer/director Kevin Smith, visited the set recently for in-person interviews.) Discovery, you gave this man a desk and a microphone. Don’t take them from him right now.
