American Idol (2002–2010), The X Factor US (2011–2013), and America’s Got Talent (2016–present).Cowell rose to public notoriety in 2001 as a judge on Pop Idol, a show he and its creator Simon Fuller successfully pitched to ITV Controller of Entertainment Claudia Rosencrantz after modest success as a record producer, talent scout, and consultant in the UK music industry in the 1980s and 1990s. He went on to launch the X Factor and Got Talent franchises, which have since been sold all over the world. Cowell was named one of the 100 most important persons in the world by Time magazine in 2004 and 2010.

He was rated sixth in The Daily Telegraph’s list of the “100 most powerful persons in British culture” in 2008.  He got the Special Recognition Award at the National Television Awards the same year. Cowell got the BAFTA Special Award for his “exceptional contribution to the entertainment business and for his promotion of emerging talent” at the 2010 British Academy Television Awards. In 2018, he was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of television.

As a television music and talent show judge, Cowell is known for making frank and provocative remarks about competitors and their singing ability, including insults and wisecracks. He works in both the television and the music businesses. Little Mix, James Arthur, Labrinth, Leona Lewis, Fifth Harmony, Il Divo, Olly Murs, Noah Cyrus, Cher Lloyd, Fleur East, and Susan Boyle are among the music artists Cowell has recruited and taken under his wing, and he has produced and promoted successful songs and albums for them. Westlife, One Direction, and CNCO are among the successful boybands he has signed.

Simon Phillip Cowell was born in Lambeth, London, on October 7, 1959 and reared in Elstree, Hertfordshire.Cowell’s father came from a predominantly Jewish household (his own mother was born in Poland), but he never told his children about it. ] Nicholas Cowell is his younger brother; John, Tony, and Michael Cowell are his half brothers; and June Cowell is his half sister.  Cowell, like his brother, attended Radlett Preparatory School and the independent Dover College, but dropped out after earning his GCE O levels.

Cowell tried a few low-paying jobs, including working as a runner on Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror film The Shining, according to his brother Tony, but he didn’t get along with his coworkers or superiors until his father, who was an executive at EMI Music Publishing, got him a job in the mail room. After failing to obtain a promotion, he went to pursue other opportunities before returning to EMI. Cowell left EMI in the early 1980s to start E&S Music with his former boss, but he left in 1983.  With Iain Burton, he founded Fanfare Records, which sold exercise DVDs and music from acts like the Italian orchestra Rond Veneziano at first.  Sinitta’s “So Macho” was his first big song in 1986. Stock Aitken Waterman, who produced a series of successes in the 1980s, was responsible for some of Cowell’s early success.  However, the company went bankrupt in 1989, and he was on the verge of bankruptcy. He then took a job as an A&R consultant with BMG and founded S Records under their umbrella.

He relaunched his music career by collaborating with acts such as the puppets Zig and Zag, the Power Rangers, and the World Wrestling Federation to create novelty records.  In 1995, he persuaded two actors from the UK television drama series Soldier Soldier, Robson Green and Jerome Flynn, to sign with him and record the song “Unchained Melody,” which they had sung on the programme.

The duo’s recording, now known as Robson & Jerome, immediately rose to the top of the UK charts and stayed there for seven weeks. It was the year’s best-selling single, and their self-titled album, released later that year, was the year’s best-selling album as well.  Before disbanding, they released another album and two more singles, selling a total of 7 million albums and 5 million singles. They allegedly gave him his first million, according to Cowell. Five, Westlife, and the Teletubbies were among the latter acts he signed.

Entertainment Claudia Rosencrantz.  “The show became a defining reality/entertainment formula once on air that autumn,” Maggie Brown of The Guardian writes. 1 UK successes and were the top two best-selling songs of 2002 and the decade of the 2000s.  In 2002, he joined the inaugural season of American Idol as a judge. Cowell has been compared to TV personalities such as Judge Judy and The Weakest Link host Anne Robinson because of his extremely harsh reputation.

Cowell’s fame grew as a result of his trademark remark, “I don’t want to be rude, but…”, which was invariably followed by a frank assessment of the contestant’s abilities, personality, or even physical appearance. Many of Cowell’s one-liners are the result of his training with well-known publicist Max Clifford (who was sacked by Cowell after being convicted of sex offences as of May 2014).  In 2003, Cowell went on the one-off World Idol show, where it became evident that each country’s version of the Idol tried to create its own “Simon Cowell” type personality.

Walsh was then invited back by Cowell a week into the auditions when he and Osbourne realised they missed Walsh and that the judges had lost their connection without him. In 2008, Cowell returned with Walsh, Minogue, and new judge Cheryl Cole for the fifth series, after Osbourne had decided to leave before the programme began.
