He is also a member of the Hollywood Horror Museum’s board of advisers as of 2015. Se I believe House IV was being released at the time, and this was most likely done for an SFX component. Anyway, Mr Cunningham was gracious enough to respond to a few questions I emailed him through his personal assistant. After the more realistic horrors of Friday the 13th, Last House on the Left, and others, why did you focus on fantasy – and fairly humorous fantasy at that – with the first House? “It was a unique and entertaining concept. It was the first time comedy and horror had been combined. As a result, we went for it.”
Why did you decide to make House 2 as a sequel with no apparent ties to the first film? Why was The Horror Show released in the UK as House 3 but not in the United States? Why was William Katt as Roger Cobb brought back for Part 4 after it was established that the House films were an anthology series? “Writer-director Lewis Abernathy believed it would serve as a plot point.”
