It was given to him by his late brother.Juicy J, a fellow Memphis rapper, gave him his blessing.
Shiesty was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, in the Cane Creek Apartments on the city’s south side. He spent two years in Pflugerville, Texas. When he returned to Memphis, he enrolled in summer school in order to complete his high school diploma. At the age of 18, he began to concentrate on music. Pooh Shiesty began his career with the release of his debut single, “Hell Night,” which featured American rapper and good friend Big30, on March 15, 2019, and was followed by the release of the official music video on February 19, 2020.
Five months later, on August 20, 2019, “Shiesty Summer” was released, followed by the music video the next day. His collaborative song with Big30, “Choppa Talk,” was released three days later on August 23, 2019, but the video was leaked a few months earlier on May 6, 2019. On November 25, 2019, he released his final song of the year, “Day One,” along with accompanying video.
Shiesty released the single “At It Again” on March 11, 2020, although the visuals were released nine days before. On March 15, 2020, he released the single “Main Slime,” four days later. The latter song was remixed and accompanied with a music video on May 29, 2020, featuring American rapper Moneybagg Yo and American record producers Tay Keith & Evan 200k, the latters of which also created the original song. On June 3, 2020, Shiesty released the single “ABCGE” along with a music video two days later.
After releasing a few tracks of his own, Shiesty caught the attention of American rapper Gucci Mane, who signed him to his 1017 Records label as well as Atlantic Records in April 2020.
They worked together on Mane’s track “Still Remember” and starred in the music video, both of which were released on June 19, 2020.Shiesty’s initial climb to fame and prominence was aided by the song. On June 25, 2020, he released the track “Monday to Sunday” with American rappers Lil Baby and Big30, as well as the music video. All three singles were accompanied by music videos and were included in Mane’s fourth compilation album, So Icy Summer, published on July 3, 2020.
The first half of the album featured Mane’s songs, while the second half had songs from the rest of the label, known as the “New 1017,” which includes Shiesty as well as labelmates Foogiano, K Shiday, Enchanting, Big Scarr, and Roboy. Shiesty and Gucci reunited on Gucci’s track “Who Is Him” off the album, which was accompanied by a music video the following day. Shiesty released the track “Twerksum” on September 9, 2020, accompanied with a music video. Armed robbery, aggravated assault and battery, and criminal theft were among the accusations he faced. On the same day as his arrest, he was freed from custody. Williams was arrested for the second time on June 9, 2021, this time in connection with a shooting at a strip club in Northwest Miami-Dade.
ever pay full price,” Pooh advises when it comes to the letter N. Mr. Pooh, as he is known when it comes to the letter P, has some life lessons to teach.
Williams was held without bond and remained in custody despite the shooting victim’s recantation. On June 29, he was charged with robbery in the Bay Harbor Islands, and on July 8, a federal judge ordered him held without bond pending trial.
Pooh Shiesty keeps putting up a show for Memphis. Since the video’s debut in January, the 2021 XXL Freshman has quickly risen to stardom with his track “Back in Blood” featuring Lil Durk, which has over 116 million Spotify streams and 161 million YouTube views. The street banger gave rap fans a reason to turn up over the last six months, whether inside due to the pandemic quarantine earlier this year or outside now that summer is in full swing. Pooh Shiesty returns the love to his city, notably Willett Avenue, in his version of XXL’s ABCs, riding high on the popularity of the tune and his Shiesty Season project.
As he travels through all 26 letters of the alphabet, fans of Big Shiesty will learn a lot about the 1017 Records/Atlantic Records musician, who is now incarcerated. The 21-year-old rapper is a family man who adores Houston and has a thing for Lamborghinis. He also knows how to haggle. “Always bargain; nThe Freshman Issue of XXL Magazine may be purchased here.
Pooh says exactly what you’d expect him to say elsewhere in the video: B is for Big Blrrrd, I is for ice, and S is for slime. On a more emotional note, Gucci was looking for a rapper. Mane also uses the initial T to honour his late brother, Tee Da P, who died in February. And don’t be surprised if you see him riding in high-end whips. He like Corvettes in addition to Lambos. He says, “V for these ‘Vettes.” “Me and Big30 are coming through in the 2020 ‘Vette.”
Memphis is rap’s holy ground, having produced some of the genre’s most eerie and foreboding sounds. Those dark strains can still be heard in Memphis’ thriving music culture, as well as in the frightening songs of Pooh Shiesty, the city’s fastest-rising new talent. While Memphis has generated a number of national stars over the previous decade, it has also seen a lot of musicians rise to prominence and then fade away. Pooh Shiesty’s rise has been quick, but with all eyes on him, the 21-year-old has only grown more hungry, his verses more strong, and his songs more anthemic.
Pooh Shiesty grew up in South Memphis, the birthplace of Playa Fly, Young Dolph, and a slew of other rap legends. Mob Ties Records was his father’s label, and he also rapped as Mob Boss. Shiesty and his pals used to rap during school lunches and in their neighbourhood for fun, studying Lil Wayne’s punchlines and analysing the metaphors and double entendres, but it wasn’t until years later that he tried his hand at writing his own songs.
Shiesty originally made waves in the city with his verse on “Breaking News,” a group single featuring BIG30 and other Choppa Gang Ent members. With his opening line, “Breaking news, bitch, I’m Shiesty Pooh / Taking shit what I do,” the then-19-year-old steals the show towards the very end of the song. On Facebook, Shiesty’s fast verse and photos of him standing in a large gathering near the crossroads of Willett and Ethlyn in South Memphis’ Cane Creek apartments went viral. Pooh Shiesty had already earned a name for himself after only four bars.
Shiesty drew Gucci Mane’s eye last year as his singles and videos gained popularity and his name became more well-known in Memphis, and the Atlanta icon signed him to his new 1017 roster after hearing the Tay Keith-produced “Main Slime.” Shiesty’s videos have become more glitzy since then, featuring more pool parties at mansions than street situations, but his songs have remained as biting and tough as ever. “You know who got that shit from you, come get it back in blood,” he taunts in his new track “Back In Blood,” which features Lil Durk. Pooh Shiesty appears confident and ready for whatever the future brings as we speak with him ahead of the release of Shiesty Season, his debut album on Atlantic and 1017. Despite the fact that the epidemic has halted many elements of the music industry, he claims that this time has only strengthened his resolve. He appears to be the type of person who is always thinking two steps ahead; at one point, he interrupts our talk to check in on his manager, who appears to be busy negotiating a price for a Pooh Shiesty feature, before plunging right back into it.
Tell me about your experience in South Memphis. What distinguishes it from the rest of the city?
It’s the same as the rest of the components. Other neighbourhoods of the city received their hoods, but South Memphis got them all. Other areas of Memphis have large houses and suburbs, while South Memphis has not. Train lines run across every community in South Memphis. You’ll be able to tell where everyone from the South is from based on what track they’re on. I’m from Cane Creek, for example. Dolph is a Castalia native. To get to Castalia from where I’m from, you have to cross the railroads.
I just improvised with what I had. There are three options: die, go to jail, or get lucky. It’s similar to a lottery.Would you have crossed the trains as a kid or stayed largely in your neighbourhood?Your elementary school would be on your track, but your high school would most likely be on the opposite side. When you were in school, what kind of kid were you?
It was a difficult time for me in school. I continued getting tossed out, expelled, and other such things. I was, however, astute. I’ve always been intelligent. I was smart enough to pay someone to do my work even though I didn’t do it myself.
