With his high school friends, Adam formed the band Groundswell, which was eventually renamed ‘Three Days Grace.’ The band performed at local events before gradually gaining recognition. Their big break came in 2003 when they were given the opportunity to record their self-titled first album, ‘Three Days Grace’. The record achieved platinum status and generated great buzz for the up-and-coming band. Local and national Canadian radio stations began playing tracks from the album, and the songs were instantly popular due to their raw emotional appeal.

Encouraged by the response, the band released their second album, named ‘One-x’, in 2006. The album was less emotive than the first and had a harsher tone, although it achieved platinum rank and four of its singles achieved gold status. The band released their third studio album, ‘Life Starts Now,’ in 2009 and spent the next couple of years traveling. Adam quit the band in 2013 and was succeeded by Matt Walst. Apart from Three Days Grace, Adam has collaborated with a number of different musicians, with the band ‘Apocalyptica’ being his most successful and critically appreciated.

Adam sang and arranged music for the band’s 2007 single ‘I Don’t care, which was included on the critically acclaimed album ‘Worlds Collide’. Adam was hired by another Canadian rock band, ‘Art of Dying,’ to contribute a song called ‘raining’ to their album ‘Vices and Virtues,’ which features his brother, Cale Gontier, on bass.
