Japanese Culture in Kirby, Mario, and Zelda,” was released three days after the first, on July 5, 2012. Ronnie Edwards posted a video titled “Hit Points and Health Bars, Digressing and Sidequesting” to MatPat’s channel on August 30, 2012. The video received enough views to warrant the creation of a new series on the channel, so MatPat struck a deal with Ronnie to grant him access to the channel, and the two collaborated to create Digressing and Sidequesting. This series covered the infrastructure of creating a game and how it would work.

This series, on the other hand, was inactive for more than a year due to a lack of viewers, but it returned in December 2014. Crossover, a new show on The Game Theorists, premiered on December 28, 2013, with creators “Trailer” Drake McWhorter and Kenny Landefeld. Crossover, which focused on “the six degrees of separation,” aimed to bridge the gaps in the gaming multiverse but later shifted to video game timelines.

Drake later launched a new series called Smash History on August 26, 2014. This series looks at the Super Smash Bros. franchise and where its elements come from in previous Nintendo games.
