On November 17, 1944, Danny DeVito was born in Neptune Township, New Jersey, to his parents Julia and Daniel DeVito. He is an actor and comedian. While his mother was a housewife, his father had a modest company that included a luncheonette and dry cleaners. He was the primary breadwinner in the family. His two elder sisters were named Theresa Scialla and Angela Lucia respectively. In Summit, New Jersey, he went to a school called “Oratory Preparatory School” after making the request to his father on his own.
After that, he enrolled in the ‘American Academy of Dramatic Arts,’ from which he graduated in 1966 with a diploma in hand. Shortly after receiving his diploma, DeVito started his career in the theatre industry by accepting a position at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut. He auditioned for a part in the film adaption of ‘In Cold Blood after noticing an advertisement.
DeVito was unable to find employment in the film industry and was forced to support himself by working as a valet parking attendant. After a short absence, he went back to New York and quickly found work in a number of off-Broadway companies. In 1971, the play “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” was adapted for the stage, and DeVito was cast as Martini in the production.
