On December 4, 1973, Tyra Lynne Banks was born to her parents, Carolyn London and Donald Banks, in the city of Inglewood, located in the state of California. Both of her parents worked in the medical field; her father was a computer consultant, while her mother was a medical photographer. Her only sibling is her elder brother, Devin, who is also her only sibling. When her parents separated when she was six years old, she and her brother split their time between living with their mother during the week and spending time with their father on weekends.
She started her academic career at “John Burroughs Middle School,” but then moved on to “Immaculate Heart High School,” from which she graduated in 1991. When she was 11 years old, she endured bullying due to the fact that she was tall and skinny.
