Vincent Neil Wharton is an American musician who is best known as the lead singer of the heavy metal band Motley Crüe, which he co-founded in April 1981. Neil was the last long-term member of the band. He joined in January 1981, when Nikki Sixx on bass and Tommy Lee on drums began practicing. They quickly decided to start a new band and started looking for members. Mick Mars, a guitarist, was the last person they found.
Still, the band was looking for a lead singer. After seeing Neil perform in Hollywood with the band “Rock Candy,” Mars suggested that they ask Neil to join. Lee said yes because he went to high school with Vince Neil, but Neil said no because he was happy where he was. Neil, on the other hand, wanted to try something new more as the other “Rock Candy” members worked on other projects.
Vince Neil Biography/Wiki
Neil was born in Hollywood, Calif., on February 8, 1961. During the 1960s, his family moved around Southern California, first to Inglewood, then to Watts, and finally to Glendora. Neil went to the nearby “Royal Oak High School” in Covina, where he met Tommy Lee. Neil liked music as a teenager, but he also liked basketball, football, baseball, surfing, and wrestling. But music was his first love. When he was 14 or 15, he started playing and singing in school bands and friend bands. When he was 17 years old, he joined the band “Rock Candy.
He was only 18 when he joined “Motley Crüe. ” He married his first wife at the end of that year. Neil was arrested for the first time (not counting teen misdemeanors) in December 1984. He was found guilty of “vehicular manslaughter” because he caused the death of “Razzle,” the drummer for “Hanoi Rocks,” in a car accident. Neil got 15 days in jail, five years of probation, 200 hours of community service, and had to pay $2.6 million to the people who were hurt in the crash.
Neil was the lead singer of Motley Crüe for most of the 1980s. The band’s first album, “Too Fast for Love,” came out at this time (1981). This was followed by a string of successful albums, including “Shout at the Devil,” which came out in 1983 and made “Motley Crüe” a big stage band, “Theatre of Pain.”
Neil became the lead singer of one of the biggest hard rock bands of the 1980s by putting out a string of very successful albums. Neil left “Motley Crüe” in February 1992, after the band’s “Decade of Decadence 81-91” 10-year retrospective came out (their first compilation album). After leaving “Motley Crüe,” Neil focused on his solo career. In 1993, he released his first solo album, “Exposed,” which made it to number 13 on the “Billboard” chart. Neil went on tour later to promote the album. He opened for Van Halen on their 1994 tour. Neil’s second solo album, “Carved in Stone,” came out in September 1995. It was an industrial record with a lot of edges. Neil had to deal with a family emergency, so it had to be put off. His daughter Skylar had become very sick.
The song “Carved in Stone” only got to number 139 on the Billboard chart, and it didn’t sell more than 100,000 copies. Neil went solo even though he rejoined Motley Crüe in 1997. In 2003, he released “Live at the Whisky: One Night Only,” a live recording of him singing a variety of “Motley Crüe” backtracks. Neil’s autobiography, “Tattoos & Tequila,” came out the same year as the book’s soundtrack.
The title of the book was “Tattoos & Tequila: To Hell and Back with One of Rock’s Most Notorious Frontmen.” The ideas for each song on the CD came from a different chapter in the book. Neil went back to Motley Crüe in 1997. Later that year, the band released “Generation Swine,” their seventh studio album. This was followed by “New Tattoo” in 2000, the compilation album “Red, White, and Crüe” in 2005, and “Saints of Los Angeles,” the last album with Neil and the other three original band members, in 2008.
After Motley Crüe’s “The Final Tour” in 2014 and 2015, Neil said in September 2018 that the band was back together and had plans to make new music.
